The supply of fuel to the engine is by the gravitational force. The level of fuel is higher than the cylinder head. Due to tank height, the petrol will automatically supply or flow down. The system, therefore, not require the pump-action before fuel in the tank is delivered.
The system consists of the following ;
1. Filler cap
2. Fuel tank
3. Fuel cock
4. Fuel filter(or strainer)
5. Fuel line
6. Carburetor
7. Intake port or inlet valve
The fuel cock is the most essential component for control of fuel leakages and three positions that can be identified easily on the cock are on, off and reserve. The gravity system has been so useful in the two-wheelers (motorcycles)/three wheelers, small aircraft, etc
