The Lagos State Government has banned motorcycle taxis, popularly known as Okada and auto-rickshaws, popularly known as Keke Marwafrom operating in some local governments in the state. The ban takes effect from February 1, 2019.
The local governments include Lagos Island Local Government, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere and Ikeja. This was made known by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Mr Jubril Gawat. The ban will also affect ride hailing services like OPay and Gokada.
